Beth Shak is one of the many female poker players who currently lead the pack of proving that the game known to be a combination of skill and luck can be expertly played by women as well.

Beth Shak is a 40-year-old mother, businesswoman, philanthropist, and an accomplished poker player to boot. Although she’s only been playing poker for four years, her solid game and some impressive performances have forced her competitors to sit up and take notice. A resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Shak has ten tournament cashes to her name with impressive earnings of $404,928, taking her to 29th on the Women's All Time Money List. An active charity worker in her free time, Beth Shak takes her poker seriously and her performances have landed her a sponsorship deal from FullTiltPoker.
Shak has had cash finishes in three consecutive World Series of Poker tournaments. She began this incredible run at the 36th World Series of Poker in 2005, when she worked her way through a field of 601 entrants to take 8th place in the $1,000 Ladies Only No Limit Hold'em event, which earned her $16,380. She returned to the World Series of Poker the following June, where she finished 76th place and picked up $3,790 for her performance in the $2,500 Short Handed No Limit Hold'em event.
Beth Shak registered her biggest ever win at the 38th World Series of Poker in June 2007. In a competitive field of 827, all competing for the prize pool of $2,282,520, Shak put in the best yet performance of her career when she finished runner-up in the $3,000 No Limit Hold'em and took home a whopping $328,683. At the 39th World Series of Poker in 2008, Shak entered two No Limit Hold’em events, finishing 52nd in one and 62nd in the other, earning $14,265.

American poker player Beth Shak only discovered poker in 2002, but by 2004 she was playing professionally, and has been ever since. She initially learned the game by playing on Full Tilt Poker’s ‘Play Money’ tables, but quickly graduated to real money.
When she entered the live poker arena, she found it to be difficult at first, stating that she had to learn not to be intimidated by men. Once she got the feel of it, however, she was a force to be reckoned with.
Beth Shak has a total of ten tournament cashes to her name, which places her among the top tier of the Women’s All-Time Money Winners. In 2005, she finished eighth in the World Series of Poker Ladies event, which at the time was only her second live tournament. In 2007, she placed second in a WSOP $3K No Limit Hold’em event for $328K, which remains her largest cash. All told, she has over $450K in live poker winnings, $360K of which has come at the World Series of Poker.
