She has an elder brother and sister. She was educated in Kalakshetra, Madras. She was a Bharatanatyam dancer by profession. Winning overnight fame in a Tamil film by famous director T. Rajender, she charmed cinegoers in a flurry of fifty films. She acted in a number of Telugu and Tamil movies. Her performance in Pushpak, Agninakshtram (Gharshana), Nirnayam and Shiva are unforgettable. In 1992, she married Nagarjuna Akkineni, who is a Telugu super star. She has an elder brother who is married and a sister. She was educated in Kalakshetra, Madras in classical dance .She later loved a South Indian actor Nagarjuna and got married in 1992, after that she left her career and quit the film industry for ever. Very soon they had a boy baby Akhil who was born in 1994, acted as a baby in a Telugu movie Sisindri which was made on the lines of Hollywood flick 'Baby's Day Out’ and was also remade in Tamil as Chutti Kulandai. Akhil is completing his studies in Australia in a school that provides premium cricket training.
HABITS
Amala is famous as the founder of 'Blue Cross of Hyderabad' a non government organization (NGO) in Hyderabad, India, and has generated a habit which works towards the welfare of animals and preservation of animal rights. She is a practicing Vegetarian and does not touch alcohol. She also teaches Yoga for women, and actively promotes communal harmony.
